Individual buyers commonly import cars under 3 years old. Algeria sets its own conditions for importing used cars, and they have been revised several times.
Ports and routes
We quote sea freight to four Algerian ports: Algiers, Oran, Annaba and Skikda. Cars leave China from Shanghai, Tianjin or Guangzhou, depending on where the car is and which services reach your port. Freight rates change, so the figure that counts is the one in your proforma invoice. Container or RoRo
RoRo
Driven on and off a vehicle carrier. The car must be drivable, and personal belongings are generally not allowed inside.
Container
Secured inside a container with straps and wheel chocks; how the container is loaded is set out in your written shipping plan. Suits a car that does not run or needs extra protection.
Import rules
How a car's age is counted, from manufacture or from first registration, is set by the Algerian rules in force.
Conditions on vehicle age, engine type and fuel, and on who may import, an individual or a company, can change. Your bank may also have its own requirements for paying abroad. Our listings show the full registration date where we have it, so the car's age is easy to work out.

Costs on arrival
Before payment, your written proforma invoice identifies the car and VIN, the FOB price, any ocean freight and cargo insurance, the agreed ports and trade term, payment terms and the bank details. Import duties, taxes, destination charges, customs broker fees and registration costs are not included.

Can I import a car older than 3 years?
Individual buyers commonly import cars under 3 years old, but the conditions are set in Algeria and change from time to time. If you have an older car in mind, tell us and we go through it with you.
Which port should I choose?
Usually the one nearest to you or to your customs broker, because collecting and clearing the car there is simpler. Your sales manager can tell you which of Algiers, Oran, Annaba and Skikda has a suitable service from China for your dates.
Can the documents be in my name?
Yes. We need your full name, address and identification number as the consignee details. They appear on the bill of lading and the invoices, and changing them after the bill of lading is issued is slow and can cost money.
Do you handle customs in Algeria?
No. We handle the export side in China: inspection, export paperwork and shipping. Customs clearance in Algeria is done by you or your licensed customs broker. We send your broker the documents and answer their questions about the car.
