Buying
How do I start?
Browse the car list and open a car page to see the price and the cost calculator, then send an inquiry from that page. Your dedicated sales manager confirms availability, condition and price. See How to buy a car from China.
The car I want is not listed. Can you find it?
Yes. The site shows only part of our stock. Tell us what you are looking for and we search our full stock for a match. If you have the model, year range, budget, colour or destination port, send them along. You receive a shortlist with photos and details, and no sale is agreed until you choose a car and the proforma invoice is signed. See Find a Car.
Are the cars left-hand drive?
Yes. Cars sold in China are left-hand drive. That suits most markets, but right-hand-drive countries such as the UK, and some countries in Africa, may have extra rules for registering a left-hand-drive car. See How to choose a car.
Are the photos of the actual car?
Not always. Where a listing says its photos are model reference photos, they show the same model, not the car on offer. Ask your sales manager for photos and a walk-around video of the actual car; the inspection report also comes with its own photos and video. See Vehicle inspection.
Can I reserve a car?
An inquiry does not reserve a car, and cars in our stock sell every day. When you decide, your sales manager confirms the car is still available and issues the proforma invoice. How and when the car is held for you, and the deposit and balance terms, are set out in that invoice. See Payment and deposit.
Can I buy several cars at once?
Yes. Tell us which models you want and how many, and the destination port if you know it. Each car gets its own inspection report and its own line on the proforma invoice. Your cars can be loaded together in one container or booked on the same RoRo sailing. See Multi-car orders, or browse our wholesale lots if you need several units of one model.
Payment
How do I pay?
By bank transfer, using the bank details on your written proforma invoice. We don't accept gift cards or cryptocurrency. See Payment and deposit.
How do the deposit and balance work?
Deposit and balance terms are set out in the proforma invoice for your car: the amounts, what each payment covers and when it is due. Do not rely on payment terms given only in a chat. See Payment and deposit.
Which currency do I pay in?
US dollars, like the prices, estimates and proforma invoices. If you pay from an account in another currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may charge a fee. See Prices and costs explained.
Who pays the bank charges?
Your sending bank or an intermediary bank may charge for an international transfer. Ask your bank about its charges; these are outside the FOB export package and are not added by the calculator.
How can I tell the bank details are genuine?
The beneficiary name and account number must match your written proforma invoice exactly. If you receive new bank details by e-mail or chat, do not pay; call us first on a number from the Verify us page. See Verify us.
Inspection and condition
What do you check?
The exterior and paint, interior, engine and gearbox, electrical equipment, tyres and brakes, signs of accident, flood or fire repair, and whether the VIN matches the registration documents, with a short drive where conditions allow. On electric and hybrid cars we also check the battery, with a state-of-health reading where the equipment can show it. The full list is in the Inspection checklist.
Can I have a video call at the car?
Yes. Ask your sales manager to arrange one. During the call we can start the car, walk around it, open the doors and boot, and show the dashboard, the tyres or any panel you ask about. The time is agreed in advance, in China time. See Vehicle inspection.
How do you check the mileage?
We compare the odometer reading with the wear on the steering wheel, pedals, seats and tyres, and with service records where the previous owner kept them. If the wear or the records do not fit the reading, the report says so. No check can prove mileage beyond doubt, so weigh it with the car's overall condition. See the Inspection checklist.
What if the inspection report shows a problem?
You decide before you pay. The report describes what we found, with photos. You can ask us to look more closely, discuss a repair or a price adjustment with us, or choose another car. No sale is agreed until the proforma invoice is signed. See Vehicle inspection.
What does "Original paint" mean?
It means the listing states that no body panel has been repainted. We check this at inspection with a paint-thickness gauge on every panel and note any panel whose readings point to refinishing. A repainted panel is not always a problem; what matters is where the work was done and why. See the Inspection checklist.
Shipping
Which ports do cars leave from?
The car’s FOB departure port is shown on its listing. Domestic transport to that port is already included in the FOB price.
Container or RoRo: which is better?
It depends on your port, the car and how many cars you buy. On a RoRo ship the car is driven on board, which suits running cars on routes RoRo serves. A container keeps the car enclosed and can carry several of your cars together. Read Container or RoRo?
How long does shipping take?
Sea days depend on the route and the sailing. The calculator on each car page shows an estimated number of days for each route, but shipping lines set and change their schedules, and transhipment or port congestion can add time. Treat every figure as an estimate, not a delivery date. See Shipping & logistics.
Is the car insured during shipping?
CFR adds estimated ocean freight to the FOB price. CIF adds estimated cargo insurance to CFR.
How is a container loaded?
Each car is secured inside with straps and wheel chocks. If you buy several cars, they can travel in the same container. How the container is loaded and what it costs depend on the route and the number of cars, and the arrangement is set out in your written shipping plan. Read Container or RoRo?
How will I know the car has sailed?
After the car is loaded, we send you the bill of lading details, including the vessel, the ports and the car's VIN. With them, you or your broker can check the sailing with the shipping line and prepare for arrival. The original documents or an electronic release follow as agreed. See Export paperwork and documents.
Documents and customs
Which documents will I receive?
A typical set includes the bill of lading, commercial invoice and packing list, export customs declaration and proof that the car's Chinese registration was cancelled for export, plus a certificate of origin when your country asks for one. See Export paperwork and documents.
Whose name goes on the documents?
The consignee's: the person or company that will clear the car at your port. We need their full name, address and the ID or company number your customs office expects, and check them with you before the documents are issued. Changing the consignee afterwards is slow and can cost money. See Export paperwork and documents.
Who clears the car through customs?
You or your customs broker, at your destination port. The broker lodges the import declaration, arranges payment of duties and taxes and obtains release from the port. We do not clear cars at destination, but we can answer your broker's questions about the export documents. See How to buy a car from China.
Are import duties and taxes included?
No. Our prices and estimates do not include import duties, taxes, destination port charges, broker fees or registration costs in your country. These are paid in your country and depend on the car and on local rules. See Prices and costs explained.
What is the 180-day date?
The date on which 180 days will have passed since the car's registration. We calculate it from the full registration date and show it on each listing. See The 180-day date explained.
Electric and hybrid
How do I know the battery's condition?
Ask for the battery state of health (SOH), with a photo of the diagnostic screen showing the car's VIN, and for the spread between the highest and lowest cell voltages. Also ask whether the battery has been repaired, and confirm it is owned, not leased. Treat SOH as a strong indication, not an exact figure. See Used electric and hybrid cars.
Will the car charge in my country?
Cars built for China use the Chinese GB/T charging standard, often with separate AC and DC sockets. Europe and the UK mostly use Type 2 and CCS2, and North America uses CCS1 or NACS. Adapters exist for some combinations, mainly for AC. See Used electric and hybrid cars.
Can the screen language be changed?
Often, but not always. Many models offer English in the settings, and some offer other languages; it depends on the model and software version. Ask for a video of the settings menu showing the available languages. Navigation, voice control and apps may still rely on Chinese services. See Used electric and hybrid cars.
